Missing Polish tourist found dead in Slovak gorge

A 67-year-old tourist from Poland has been found dead after going missing while hiking through the Piecky Gorge in Slovakia, the country’s Mountain Rescue Service said.

According to RMF24, the woman became separated from her tour group on the morning of 29 May after deciding not to continue along a more challenging section of the route featuring exposed ladders and suspension bridges.

Contact with her was subsequently lost.

A search operation involving nine Slovak mountain rescuers was launched. The woman’s body was later discovered in a steep ravine near the Great Waterfall.
