Macron receives milestone Thermomix food processor at new Vorwerk plant
French President Emmanuel Macron was presented on Friday, May 29, with a Thermomix food processor manufactured at a Vorwerk factory in Donnemain-Saint-Mamès, France.
The appliance marked a milestone as the two-millionth unit produced at the plant, dpa reports.
During the presentation, Macron assured Vorwerk board member Thomas Rodemann that he would make full use of the device, saying: "I will do my best; you can count on me; I will certainly try to get the most out of this Thermomix."
The visit took place ahead of the “Choose France” summit, an initiative aimed at attracting foreign investment into the country. Macron highlighted the new Vorwerk facility as a successful example of industrial relocation and Franco-German economic cooperation.
The site, designed in 2022, was completed within two years. The project involved an investment of nearly €130 million (approximately $150 million) and has created 124 industrial jobs in the small northern French community.
Emphasising France’s investment appeal, Macron stated: "For seven years running now, France has been the European country attracting the most foreign investment," referencing an annual ranking by EY. According to the latest study, France ranks as the most attractive investment destination in Europe, ahead of the UK and Germany.
Rodemann noted that labour costs were not the primary factor in the decision to expand manufacturing in France. Instead, he emphasised execution speed, stating: "The decisive factor was the ability to swiftly translate investment decisions into industrial reality."
He also commended several structural advantages in France, including efficient approval processes, strong institutional support at all levels of government, reliable infrastructure, access to a highly skilled workforce, and the availability of dependable, low-emission, and affordable energy.
