Eight US soldiers injured in military truck accident in Poland

Eight American soldiers were injured after a military truck overturned in Poland’s West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The incident occurred on a road between the towns of Studnica and Czertin in the municipality of Drawsko Pomorskie. The vehicle was reportedly traveling to a military training ground near Drawsko Pomorskie when it veered off the road and overturned, Polish media reports. 

One soldier sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by medical helicopter to a hospital in Gryfice. Six other soldiers were hospitalised and are reported to be in stable condition.

Preliminary findings by military police suggest that driver error or carelessness may have contributed to the crash. Authorities noted that the accident took place on a straight section of road and under favorable weather conditions.

Investigators remain at the scene and are interviewing witnesses as they work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
