Thailand receives more than half million Russian tourists in winter

In Thailand, the number of trips to the kingdom for February 2023 was calculated.

Tourists from Malaysia came to Thailand more often than others in February. The volume of tourist flow from this country amounted to 262,944 tourists, AKM reports.

The second place, as in January, is occupied by Russia. In February, 184,858 tourists from the Russian Federation rested in Thailand.

The third place, as a month earlier, is held by Korea. Its contribution to the total tourist flow is 155,538 tourists.

China rose to the fourth place from the fifth, which it occupied at the end of January. From there, 154,710 tourists arrived in Thailand in February. India, which ranked fourth in January, now closes the TOP 5. In February, 97,593 tourists from this country rested in the resorts of Thailand.

Russia, which ranks second in the total tourist flow to Thailand in February, is the undisputed leader among non-Asian countries.

It is followed by Germany by a large margin (75,012 tourists in February). Then France comes with a small margin (74,664 tourists).

The UK is in fourth place with 73,123 tourists. Sweden closes the top five non-Asian countries. From there, 25,726 tourists arrived in Thailand in February.

According to the results of the first two months of 2023, Thailand received 387,500 tourists from Russia, which is more than 90% of the values of the whole of 2022, when 435,008 Russians rested in the kingdom for the whole year.

Total in the winter season 2022/2023 (December, January and February) Thailand was visited by 570,609 tourists from Russia.

The most successful month of winter in terms of tourist traffic was January. Then 202,642 Russians had a rest at the resorts of the kingdom. The second place in February is 184,858 tourists. Bronze in December – 183,109 Russians.

Tour operators working in the direction confirm the statistics. They say they are satisfied with the results of the high season and predict a successful spring season.

As for the summer season, tour operators plan to partially extend flight programs to Thailand. But final decisions have not yet been made.

Commenting on the statistics of the winter season, tour operators urged tourists not to worry about the information that appeared in the media about the introduction of a system of yellow and red cards for foreigners in Phuket.

According to local media, the innovation has already entered into force. According to him, tourists who violate law and order will be handed a yellow card first, and in case of repeated violations – a red card. The most negative consequences are deportation and refusal to enter the country.

But, firstly, tour operators say, there is no official information on this yet. So, the Thai embassy in Moscow does not know anything about such an innovation and says that if there was an official decision, the diplomatic mission would know about it. That is, so far it is only an "initiative"
