Non-fatal shooting outside CIA headquarters triggers security lockdown
A non-fatal shooting occurred outside the CIA headquarters in McLean, Virginia, early on the morning of May 22, prompting a swift security response and temporary closure of the main entrance, authorities said.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the incident took place around 4:00 a.m. local time (12:00 GMT+4) near the 900 block of Dolley Madison Boulevard. Officers were dispatched to the scene to assist CIA police with traffic control following what the agency described as a “security incident,” Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
A CIA spokesperson confirmed the main gate remains closed until further notice and advised employees to use alternative routes.
A federal law enforcement source said the suspect involved is a woman, but no other details have been released.
Fairfax County police confirmed that their officers are still on-site providing traffic support as the investigation continues.
The CIA has not released further information, stating that "additional details will be made available as appropriate."
