Traffic through Strait of Hormuz remains low, only seven ships pass in 24 hours
At least seven vessels — mostly dry bulk carriers — passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours, reflecting the continued low shipping activity seen in recent days.
Among the vessels were ships departing from Iraqi ports, as well as one dry bulk carrier from an Iranian port, Caliber.Az reports, citing Reuters.
Data from Kpler and SynMax showed that shipping traffic through the strategic waterway at the entrance to the Persian Gulf remains only a fraction of normal levels during the fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, compared to an average of 140 daily transits recorded before the war with Iran began on February 28.
Six Iranian tankers have recently returned to domestic ports after passing back through the Strait of Hormuz, carrying approximately 10.5 million barrels of oil, according to satellite analysis from TankerTrackers.com.
A separate satellite assessment by the same firm said that on April 24, tankers carrying around 4 million barrels of Iranian crude passed through the area amid what it described as a US blockade zone.
