Trump: Gaza update expected within a day
US President Donald Trump promised in the Oval Office on May 7 to expect updates on Gaza within the next 24 hours, noting that there is a "lot of talk going on" about the conflict.
The president also touched on the US-Houthi cease-fire he announced on May 6, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“We had a very good outcome with the Houthis. We honour their word, they made a commitment,” Trump said, expressing hope that they will leave the ships alone.
He went on to praise the group's resilience in the face of the bombardment.
“We hit them very hard. They had a great capacity to withstand punishment. You could say there’s a lot of bravery there. It’s amazing what they took,” he added.
The deal follows nearly two months of sustained US-led airstrikes under “Operation Rough Rider,” a military campaign aimed at curbing Houthi missile and drone attacks in the Red Sea and surrounding region.
Since the operation began earlier this year, US defence officials report a 69 per cent drop in ballistic missile launches and a 55 per cent reduction in one-way drone activity attributed to the Houthis in 2025.
