Trump to visit Saudi Arabia in May
U.S. President Donald Trump will travel to Saudi Arabia in May, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced during a regular press briefing on April 1.
"The president will travel to Saudi Arabia in May. As for specific dates and details [of the trip], we will provide them as soon as we can," she said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Leavitt was also asked whether a ceasefire in Gaza or Ukraine was a condition for Trump's visit. "Regarding a ceasefire, the president has made it clear that he would like to see one in relation to Russia and Ukraine. His team continues to work on this day by day," she noted.
She explained that the U.S. leader’s aides are currently working out the details of his upcoming trip.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Saudi Arabia could not be ruled out, but there were no specifics yet on the location of a potential in-person summit.
Meanwhile, U.S. presidential envoy Stephen Witkoff suggested in an interview with Bloomberg that a bilateral U.S.-Russia summit could take place in Saudi Arabia. He noted that while he could not speak for Putin and Trump, "his best bet is that it will happen."
