UK, Israeli, Iranian FMs hold talks amid escalating situation in Middle East
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that he held talks with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
“Today I held important calls with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The UK continues to press for de-escalation and an end to the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza. A regional war would be catastrophic and is in no one's interests,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Lammy's message on X.
On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces announced that they had struck military targets in Iran in response to numerous ongoing attacks. In a statement, Iran's air defence forces reported that military facilities in Ilam, Tehran, and Khuzestan provinces had come under attack.
However, the damage was slight and that the country’s air defence systems successfully intercepted most of strikes. The Iranian military reported that at least four Iranian servicemen were killed as a result of the strike.
