Apple to launch redesigned Magic Mouse with touch and voice controls
Apple is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of its Magic Mouse, introducing advanced features like touch and voice controls alongside a more ergonomic design.
According to a report by Korean leaker "yeux1122," the next-generation Magic Mouse is set to debut in 2026, coinciding with the release of Apple’s OLED "M6" MacBook Pro, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The redesigned Magic Mouse aims to address long-standing user complaints, particularly the inconvenient location of the charging port. Despite the recent transition from Lightning to USB-C, the charging port remains on the bottom of the device, rendering it unusable during charging. While this has been a minor annoyance due to the quick and infrequent nature of charging, Apple is expected to relocate the port in its upcoming iteration, enhancing usability.
Beyond this improvement, Apple is reportedly integrating cutting-edge features into the new model. Prototypes suggest that the updated Magic Mouse will include touch-sensitive surfaces, voice command capabilities, and gesture recognition, reflecting evolving user demands for more intuitive and versatile input devices.
This redesign marks a significant shift for a product that has seen little change in over a decade. Since its launch in 2009, updates to the Magic Mouse have been incremental, such as the introduction of a built-in rechargeable battery in 2015, color-matching options for the iMac in 2021, and the recent switch to USB-C.
The addition of touch and voice controls aligns with Apple’s broader strategy of integrating advanced technologies into its ecosystem, potentially paving the way for enhanced productivity and accessibility. The ergonomic redesign also signals Apple’s acknowledgment of user feedback regarding the device's comfort and functionality.
Apple has not officially commented on the leaked details, and the specifics of the redesigned Magic Mouse remain unconfirmed. However, with its anticipated launch alongside the high-performance OLED MacBook Pro, the new Magic Mouse could set a new standard for computer peripherals.
