Romanian president claims decisive cyber support for Moldova elections
Romanian President Nicușor Dan has said that Romanian intelligence services played a “key role” in ensuring cybersecurity during parliamentary elections in Moldova.
He made the statement in an interview with Europa FM, Newsmaker reports.
President Dan said Romania, through its National Cyber Security Directorate, provided protection for electoral infrastructure and state systems against cyberattacks.
He also emphasized that the National Cyber Security Directorate ensured the security of voting for citizens abroad.
“In the cyber domain, they provided decisive support in the elections in Moldova, I emphasize, strictly in the cyber domain, not by influencing the electoral process itself,” Dan said.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu warned that Russia would seek new ways to influence the country in order to destabilize the situation.
