Media: Anthropic CEO to meet White House chief of staff amid Pentagon AI dispute
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is expected to meet with White House Chief of Staff Susan Wiles, with the talks potentially signalling progress in a dispute between the startup and the Pentagon over access to its latest AI models.
The discussion concerns the Mythos model, unveiled on April 7 and used within the Project Glasswing initiative, which provides limited organisations with access to a version of Claude Mythos Preview for cybersecurity tasks and so-called defensive hacking, Axios reports, citing sources.
US administration officials reportedly acknowledge the potential value of the technology for cyber defence.
However, one Axios source said it would be extremely irresponsible to deprive the United States of a technological advantage that could strengthen China’s position.
It is reported that the possibility of granting access to the Mythos version to major US federal agencies is under discussion.
The Pentagon previously reportedly ended cooperation with Anthropic over a contractual dispute, although negotiations with the administration are said to be continuing.
