Pakistan, Uzbekistan explore trade routes via ports
Pakistan and Uzbekistan have discussed expanding trade cooperation, focusing on transporting Uzbek goods to global markets through Pakistani ports.
The talks took place during a meeting between Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, according to the Dunyo news agency.
Both sides emphasised the importance of diversifying bilateral trade and strengthening economic ties between Central and South Asia. Improving logistics routes and market access was highlighted as a key priority.
President Zardari also reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Trans-Afghan Railway, a route seen as strategically significant for enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating trade flows between the two regions.
