US-based business magnate accused of major tax evasion dies

Robert Brockman, an American billionaire defendant in a $2 billion tax evasion case, died at the age of 81.
The businessman made his fortune, estimated at $4.7 billion, by founding the software firm Reynolds & Reynolds in the 1970s and making investments, TASS reports citing Bloomberg.
In October 2020, the IRS sued Brockman, accusing him of tax evasion on $2 billion in income. According to the authorities, he used offshore schemes to hide the income he received from investments in Vista Equity Partners.
In the last years of his life, Brockman suffered from dementia, the entrepreneur's lawyers insisted that due to the deterioration of his health condition, he could not be a defendant in the case brought against him.
