IAEA chief: Iran’s nuclear program too advanced to be fully dismantled
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has emphasised that Iran’s nuclear program cannot be fully dismantled through military means and called for renewed diplomatic efforts to reach a sustainable solution.
Grossi made the remarks during a press conference in Warsaw on July 7, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
He noted that despite the significant damage already inflicted on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, a long-term resolution would require a diplomatic agreement rather than military action. According to Grossi, the country’s advanced technological and industrial capabilities make it impossible to completely eliminate its nuclear potential through force.
Grossi stressed that any viable agreement must include a robust verification mechanism, warning that without such a structure, any deal would remain fragile and unreliable.
The IAEA chief also confirmed that some negotiations are currently taking place through intermediaries. He described the present moment as a "post-conflict phase" that must be overcome and expressed hope that momentum would soon build toward a comprehensive agreement.
