Uzbekistan establishes new institute for cybersecurity and AI
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a document establishing the Institute of Cryptology, Information Security and Innovative Technologies.
According to the Uzbek media, the institution will be established on the basis of the Center for Radio-Electronic Systems and Information Technologies.
The new institute will retrain specialists in data protection, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, Big Data and digital forensics. It will also conduct applied research and develop national standards.
The institute’s team will develop and certify cryptographic tools, as well as audit the security of government systems and critical infrastructure facilities.
Employees and teaching staff will be eligible for preferential mortgages to purchase apartments in the Tashkent region for a period of 20 years, with a down payment starting at 15%.
The development of the institute’s projects will be financed through an extra-budgetary fund generated from the sale of services, the institute’s own developments and sponsorship funds.
