Trump once again calls Strait of Hormuz “new US territory”
US President Donald Trump has posted a map on his Truth Social account showing the Strait of Hormuz labeled as a “new US territory.”
The strait is circled on the image.
At an event on August 14, Trump, claiming that the US Navy was imposing a full blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, said that he would soon declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory after defeating Iran.
In another social media post, Trump claimed that the United States had “full control” over the Strait of Hormuz and said he believed Washington would be able to maintain that control.
Iranian officials, meanwhile, have repeatedly stated that the strait will remain closed until the United States stops interfering in the affairs of the Strait of Hormuz and its naval blockade, as well as fulfills the requirements of the agreement signed between Tehran and Washington on June 17.
