Iraq admits aiding PKK under Iranian cover, says Ankara holds "serious dossiers"
Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Sumaydai has openly acknowledged that Türkiye is now in possession of “very serious dossiers” against Iraq.
“We have been feeding Qandil for years. Now the PKK is self-dissolving, and Türkiye has very serious dossiers against us,” he noted during an appearance on a television channel linked to the Hashd al-Shaabi, Caliber.Az reports, citing the newspaper Türkiye.
Al-Sumaydai further revealed: “We disguised the PKK, making it look like Hashd al-Shaabi. We gave them weapons and money. Türkiye knows about this; they have all the cards.”
Iraqi researcher Semir Himmet, who assessed this statement, said that the “Türkiye without terror” project and the PKK’s decision to lay down arms overturned all of Tehran’s calculations.
Himmet, stating that Iran was clearly caught red-handed, said: “The Iraqi administration does not act without instructions from Iran. They supported the PKK under Iranian directives. What is much more important is that this admission was made through the channel ‘Al-Ahdi Hashd al-Shaabi.’”
“In recent days, there has been very serious activity in the capital Baghdad and especially along the Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Mosul line. In these regions, attacks using bombs and assassinations have increased. The same situation is observed on the Syrian and Iranian borders. Iran has started a new game because its 40-year rule in Iraq is under threat,”
Khosheng Osi, who spent 20 years within the terrorist organisation and later found refuge in Europe, said: “The roots of the relationship between Iran and the PKK go far back. The first country to support the terrorist organisation was Iran. The PKK established itself both in Bekaa and Qandil thanks to Iran. They have very strong relations. Iran sabotaged all the peace processes in Türkiye. There was always a corridor from Qandil to Iran, and it remained open. Very high-ranking officials used to come and go.”
