US forces conduct airstrikes against Houthis in Yemen, at least 1 killed VIDEO
On the night of March 28 to 29, US military airstrikes targeted key Houthi positions in Yemen, killing at least one person.
The bombing campaign, which took place in the capital, Sanaa, hit a significant military site under Houthi control, Caliber.Az reports, citing American media.
While the full scale of the damage and the number of casualties remains unclear, the strikes followed an intense wave of bombings on March 28, marking a dramatic escalation in the ongoing operation.
This latest operation, which began on March 15, is part of a broader shift in US military strategy under President Donald Trump. According to an Associated Press review, the scale of the current airstrikes appears more extensive than those conducted under former President Joe Biden. The new approach focuses not only on targeting launch sites but also on eliminating high-ranking Houthi personnel, with bombs now being dropped in urban areas.
In addition to the strikes, an AP analysis of satellite imagery reveals that the US has relocated long-range stealth B-2 bombers to Diego Garcia, a British territory in the Indian Ocean. The remote base, well beyond the range of Houthi rebels, allows the US to carry out airstrikes without relying on regional allies' air bases.
For the record, the situation in Yemen remains complex, with the Houthi rebels continuing to control large portions of the country, while a Saudi-led coalition supports the Yemeni government in exile. Civilian casualties remain a persistent concern as the conflict drags on.
