Factory blast in northern China leaves 2 dead, 66 hospitalised

An explosion at a factory in northern China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on January 18 has killed two people, left five missing, and hospitalised 66 others, according to the local authorities.
The blast took place at a plate plant operated by Baogang United Steel in western Baotou City, causing noticeable tremors in surrounding areas, Caliber.Az reports per Chinese media.
Earlier, local emergency management and fire rescue authorities confirmed two fatalities and five people missing. Among the 66 hospitalised, three remain in serious condition.
Rescue teams from both the autonomous region and Baotou City have been dispatched to the scene.
Authorities said the cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
