French president approval rating hits record low
A recent poll conducted by Ipsos BVA in partnership with the French engineering school CESI shows growing public dissatisfaction with President Emmanuel Macron.
The survey found that Macron’s approval rating has fallen to a record low of 18%, while 79% of respondents disapprove of his policies, up two points from December 2025, Caliber.Az reports via French media.
Brice Teinturier, Managing Director of Ipsos BVA, highlighted the fragility of Macron’s support base, noting a 10-point drop among supporters of allied parties such as Renaissance, the Democratic Movement, and Horizons, with only 52% of their electorate continuing to back him.
Meanwhile, other key government figures show slightly higher ratings. Gérald Darmanin, Gabriel Attal, and Édouard Philippe all received between 21% and 22% approval as potential presidential candidates.
Darmanin remains the most popular government member, with 48% support among Les Républicains voters, while Attal and Philippe dominate the central bloc with 52% and 56% support, respectively.
The survey also shows that far-right figures remain highly popular. Jordan Bardella, leader of the National Rally, tops the list with 35% approval, followed closely by Marine Le Pen at 33%, while Marion Maréchal rises to third place with 23% support.
The right-wing bloc is further represented by Bruno Retailleau and Éric Ciotti, both at 18%.
