US imposes sanctions on 37 more Chinese companies
The US Department of Commerce has added 37 Chinese companies involved in quantum and nuclear energy technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles to the list of organisations to which the Export Administration Regulations will apply.
The restrictions were applied against these structures due to their activities contradicting the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States, according to Anadolu Agency.
As noted, 22 companies on the list are directly linked to Beijing's efforts to promote quantum research or attempts to acquire US technology for quantum computing.
The US Department of Commerce noted that some of these companies have also been linked to China's nuclear programmes, and "following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, transferred several controlled materials to that country".
Another 11 companies made the list because they were involved in the production of Chinese balloons that were detected in US airspace.
The remaining four companies were allegedly trying to obtain US quantum technologies for use in military unmanned aircraft systems.
