US raises concerns over potential Iranian missile transfer to Russia
The White House has issued a statement regarding recent reports about a potential transfer of missiles from Iran to Russia.
Sean Savett, a spokesperson for the National Security Council, indicated that such a transfer would represent a substantial escalation in Iran's support for Russia's ongoing military operations in Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
According to Savett, if Iran were to provide ballistic missiles to Russia, it would be a significant intensification of Iran's involvement in the conflict, marking a notable increase in its backing of Russia's actions.
While Savett acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, he refrained from confirming or denying whether the transfer of missiles has actually occurred. He stressed that the situation warrants close attention due to the potential impact on the conflict.
Savett also highlighted the broader context of growing concerns over the security partnership between Russia and Iran. He pointed out that this alliance has been strengthening since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine began. This development has been a major point of concern for the U.S. and its allies. At the recent G7 and NATO summits, the U.S. and its partners underscored their commitment to address such issues collectively and are prepared to impose serious consequences if the situation escalates further.
