07 January 2024 11:15

In an interview with Tvnet, Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu expressed hope for the completion of the Zangezur Corridor realisation works by 2028.

According to Report, Uraloglu recalled that the Zangezur corridor is an important project for Türkiye, as it will provide the country with direct land connection with the Turkic countries.

The minister emphasised that recently positive messages have also been coming from Armenia regarding participation in the project.

"A 43-kilometre section of the route passes through the territory of Armenia. They in turn have to finalise the processes related to planning and tenders," he said.

Uraloglu emphasised that Iran is also interested in participating in the Zangezur corridor project: "Türkiye continues negotiations with Iran. The Zangezur corridor is important for Türkiye. We can help Iran to join this project," he said.

The minister recalled that Türkiye continues works on the construction of relevant infrastructure on the 224-kilometre section of the route running through its territory. "The works are planned to be completed in the next five years. Thus, the Zangezur corridor project can be fully realised by 2028."
