Azerbaijani, Ukrainian FMs discuss multifaceted cooperation in expanded-format meeting PHOTO / UPDATED

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the Ukrainian delegation led by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during his visit to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda, based on the friendship and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Special attention was given to prospects for developing cooperation in political, economic, energy, transport, and humanitarian fields, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Minister Bayramov emphasised the traditional mutual support for territorial integrity and sovereignty that both countries have extended to each other for many years. He noted the importance of developing bilateral relations based on the norms and principles of international law, in particular respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of state borders.

The sides also discussed prospects for deepening economic ties. The importance of the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine was highlighted as an important tool to promote bilateral interaction.

In addition, issues of regional and international security were touched upon during the meeting. In this context, an exchange of views on topics of mutual interest took place.

Minister Bayramov informed the Ukrainian side about the progress of restoration and construction works being carried out in the post-conflict period on the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation. He also spoke about the current state of the normalisation process of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, noting obstacles created by the Armenian side.

In turn, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha highly appreciated the humanitarian aid provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine, including in the areas of restoration of territories affected by conflict and humanitarian demining. He also conveyed congratulations to the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of May 28 — Independence Day.

The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, Jeyhun Bayramov and Andrii Sybiha, are holding an expanded-format meeting.

The talks are covering issues of political and economic cooperation, trade, energy, transport links, as well as ongoing humanitarian engagement, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The ministers are also set to discuss the international and regional security situation.
