Zangezur Corridor to strategically benefit entire region, Georgian pundit says

The TRIPP project, also known as the Zangezur Corridor, is of strategic importance for the entire region, and statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev provide a reliable guarantee of its successful implementation, former head of the Georgian Presidential Administration and political commentator professor Petre Mamradze said.

Speaking to Report, he noted that the corridor’s launch will benefit not only Azerbaijan and Armenia, but also Georgia, and could attract significant investment. 

He stressed that while European Union resources are currently limited, main financial flows are likely to come from the South and East, potentially on a very substantial scale. Mamradze added that attention from the Georgian government to the project would create additional opportunities for the entire region, describing the corridor as a project worthy of serious investment.

The professor also emphasised the importance of the United States and Donald Trump personally acting as guarantors of the project. He said that in the current global context, with new centres of power emerging and increasing talk of instability, the role of the US and Trump provides a real guarantee that the process will develop without delays and benefit all parties involved.
