Azerbaijan, Venezuela strengthen ties amid political developments
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Venezuelan counterpart Yvan Gil Pinto held a telephone conversation to discuss recent developments in Venezuela and cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers addressed the latest events unfolding in Venezuela as well as issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Venezuela, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
FM Bayramov expressed his deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in recent events in Venezuela. He also conveyed hope for the restoration of peace and stability in the country and stressed the importance of preserving Venezuela’s national unity.
In response, Pinto provided Bayramov with a detailed update on the situation in Venezuela, highlighting what he characterized as the successful exercise of presidential powers and the normal functioning of state institutions.
Pinto also emphasized that dialogue with the United States continues, that the operations of American companies—particularly in the energy sector—have resumed, and that talks are underway on the mutual reopening of embassies between Caracas and Washington.
The sides underlined the importance of continuing efforts to develop bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Venezuela. They also highlighted the value of cooperation based on mutual support and solidarity within international organizations, notably the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
