Iran's president to visit Armenia in boost to diplomatic, economic ties
Iran is preparing a visit by President Masoud Pezeshkian to Armenia, as diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries continue to grow, a senior Iranian official said.
Speaking at a press briefing during the “Yerevan Dialogue – 2025” international conference, Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed that plans are underway for the Iranian president to travel to Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Khatibzadeh described the current state of Iran-Armenia relations as “very high,” emphasising sustained engagement at the highest levels of government.
“We are now planning a visit by the head of state to Yerevan. Political consultations are ongoing between the capitals, and as for economic relations, they are at a very high level. Soon, once the zero tariff on transport is implemented, economic cooperation will experience rapid growth,” he said.
He also highlighted the pace of official exchanges, noting that five Iranian delegations are expected to arrive in Armenia this week. He recalled that Armenia’s Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, visited Iran just last week.
Beyond trade and diplomacy, cooperation is expanding into other areas, including technology, tourism, and cultural exchange. “There is also strong cooperation in the field of advanced technologies,” Khatibzadeh added, while pointing to steady progress in people-to-people ties.
Looking ahead, the Deputy Minister expressed hope that regional stability could unlock further opportunities for collaboration.
“I hope that after certain obstacles are removed – especially once a peace treaty is signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan – we will be able to implement many projects and programmes that have not yet been realised,” he said.
