Shootout sparks in US, leaving one dead

At least one person has been killed and five others wounded in a shootout in the US city of Atlanta in the state of Georgia.

News of the shooting was reported by FOX 5 Atlanta citing law enforcement sources.

The incident was said to happen on November 26 at 20:00 local time at a shopping district near downtown Atlanta.

A man died at the scene and five victims were taken to hospital, Atlanta police homicide chief Jermaine Dirlove said when asked by reporters.

Police are yet to identify the suspects. The incident may have been the result of an argument between teenagers and young men that ended in gun violence, with the police chief stating that the parties are believed to be between the ages of 15 and 21-years-old.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
