US VP praises state secretary as "best friend" in administration
JD Vance, Vice President of the United States, has hailed Secretary of State Marco Rubio as his 'best friend' within the current administration, revealing that the two frequently communicate.
"He is probably my best friend in the administration. We hang out and talk all the time," Caliber.Az quotes Vance as saying via foreign media.
In an interview, he praised Rubio's performance during the Trump administration, calling him "a really good job" in his previous role.
Vance also addressed the ongoing speculation regarding President Trump’s future endorsements, suggesting that the president was not yet preparing to endorse a successor.
The Vice President and Rubio were rivals during the 2024 campaign to become Trump’s running mate. However, the president ultimately selected Vance, a younger and less experienced politician. Despite this, the bond between the two has remained strong.
When asked whether he would run for president in 2028, Vance deflected, stating: "We have to do a good job for the American people and if we do that the politics will take care of themselves."
Meanwhile, President Trump expressed his belief that the Republican Party is filled with potential presidential candidates for the next election cycle. "I could name 10, 15, 20 people right now just sitting here," Trump said.
Although many of his supporters continue to push for a third-term run, Trump reiterated that he is not actively considering such a move. "I'm looking to have four great years and turn it over to somebody, ideally a great Republican, to carry it forward," he explained.
