Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry holds board meeting
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry conducted board meeting on February 8.
The meeting was attended by members of the MFA collegium and heads of structural units, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.
At the beginning of the meeting, the memory of those who died as a result of the earthquake in Kahramanmaras and other neighboring regions of Türkiye was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who opened the meeting with an introductory speech, spoke about the new realities and challenges that have arisen in the field of foreign policy in the post-conflict period, and gave detailed information about the main elements of intensive foreign policy activity in 2022. In the current crisis in the system of international relations, in accordance with the foreign policy course determined by the President of the country, independent, open, pragmatic and foreign policy based on national interests has been successfully implemented.
The minister emphasized the importance of the active work done with the countries of the world both in bilateral formats and within the framework of international organizations, as well as the international and regional initiatives and platforms promoted by Azerbaijan. The importance of consistently, systematically and efficiently conveying the truths of Azerbaijan to the world community and further revitalizing the activities of the diplomatic missions abroad in this direction was noted. The minister said that it is necessary to strengthen the professional and patriotic staff in order to perform these tasks. During 2022, information was given about successful campaigns for the selection of Azerbaijan's candidates for relevant positions in various international organizations, and the importance of continuing work in this direction was brought to attention.
During the meeting, reports and plans for 2023 were presented and detailed discussions were held by the heads of the structural units of the MFA in the relevant fields.
Organization of high-level mutual visits, conducting work in the direction of making the meetings of bilateral commissions more practical and result-oriented, exploring the possibilities of strengthening economic and trade relations, etc. priorities were highlighted. Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Economic Cooperation Organization and other international organizations, as well as plans for 2023 were discussed.
The organization of hiring in the ministry on the basis of an open competition and future work in this direction were reviewed at the meeting in order to maintain transperancy in the personnel policy of the ministry. It was stated that the active involvement of personnel in professional development programs will be ensured. In addition, it was noted that in 2022, management appointments were made for 20 diplomatic missions.
In order to improve the financial, social and pension security of employees working in diplomatic missions and consulates, information was provided during the meeting about the changes made in the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Social Insurance", "On Diplomatic Service" and the Tax Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The participants of the collegium meeting exchanged detailed views on the issues included in the agenda.
