Kyrgyz special service detains people preparing coup d’etat
On June 6, the State Committee for National Security commented on the detention of suspects in preparation for the violent seizure of power that occurred on June 5.
According to the intelligence service, a group of citizens "during the year carried out purposeful work to attract supporters to their ranks and recruit the most dissatisfied citizens throughout the country," Caliber.Az reports, citing the Kyrgyz media.
According to the State Committee for National Security, the main organizer and "ideological inspirer" is Roza Sarlykovna Nurmatova, a civil activist and chairman of the Eldik Kenesh political party.
The investigation believes that more than 100 people from various strata of society and different regions of the country were involved in the group of "conspirators", among whom roles with specific tasks were clearly distributed.
“The conspirators intended to start the active phase of the implementation of their criminal plans immediately after the appearance of discontent in society over any incident,” the State Committee for National Security said in a statement.
It is noted that on June 5, more than 30 members of this group were brought to the State Committee, Nurmatova and 4 more people were detained, whom the State Committee for National Security called “the main associates” of the organizer of the group. All detainees were placed in the temporary detention centre of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic, Roza Sarlykovna Nurmatova is the leader of the Eldik Kenesh party.
According to data from open sources, in 2012 Nurmatova took part in a rally organized by the then deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Sadyr Japarov and Kamchybek Tashiev, who now hold the posts of President of the Kyrgyz Republic and head of the State Committee for National Security. In 2012, she also led the headquarters of supporters of Sadyr Japarov and Kamchybek Tashiev.
