Ukraine extends martial law, mobilisation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed laws on extending martial law and mobilisation in Ukraine.
Ukrainska Pravda reports, citing the digital profiles of draft bills No.9533 and 9532 on the Parliament's website
Martial law and mobilisation have been extended for 90 days, i.e. until 15 November 2023.
This is the eighth extension since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The next parliamentary elections were supposed to take place in October 2023. However, the law stipulates that no election can take place during martial law.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a proposal to the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian Parliament) on 16 July to approve his decrees extending martial law and general mobilisation in Ukraine by another 90 days.
The Verkhovna Rada approved a draft law extending martial law and general mobilisation by another 90 days on 27 July.
