US bomber gets stuck on Japanese runway, delays hundreds of passengers
A US Air Force B-1 Lancer strategic bomber became stuck on the runway at Misawa Airport in Aomori Prefecture, located in northern Japan's Honshu Island, causing significant disruptions to civilian air traffic.
The incident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. (GMT+9). In response, airport officials temporarily halted both incoming and outgoing civilian flights for approximately one and a half hours, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
As a result of the disruption, a flight from Tokyo was forced to return to its departure point, and a flight from Misawa to Tokyo was cancelled, affecting around 200 passengers. A photo released by the news outlet showed the bomber parked on the runway with a boarding ladder attached. The cause of the incident has not yet been determined, and authorities have not provided further details at this time.
