New blast hits central Iran, one dead in Isfahan warehouse incident

An explosion at a warehouse in the central Iranian city of Isfahan has left one person dead and two others injured, Iranian state media reported on April 29.

The facility is linked to chemical industries and reportedly involved in the production of gunpowder under the oversight of Iran’s National Security Council, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.

In an interview with Iranian media, Mansour Shishehforoush, director general of the provincial crisis management department, stated: “The explosion occurred at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the warehouse of Avanar Parsian Company, located in the Meymeh district of Shahin Shahr and Meymeh County.”

He added that emergency and Red Crescent teams were dispatched to the scene and the incident was brought under control. However, as a result of the explosion, one person lost their life, and two others sustained burn injuries and were transferred to medical facilities by emergency teams.

The Director General noted that the cause of the incident is under investigation and that the explosion caused damage to the warehouse’s roof and structure.

The incident comes just days after a separate and far deadlier blast rocked the southern port city of Bandar Abbas on April 26.

Local sources say at least 70 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured in that explosion. The cause has not been officially disclosed.

Iran has not commented publicly on whether the two incidents are connected. Authorities have launched investigations into both cases.
