Pundit Arzumanyan: Armenia should say goodbye to Russia

Director of the Ashkhar Center for Strategic Studies Hrachya Arzumanyan has said that Armenia just needs to get together and say goodbye to Russia.

"I would like to see practical steps from Armenia's side. You can say different things at the level of statements, but when they are not followed by practical steps, the situation becomes quite different. Armenia just needs to get together and say goodbye to Russia," Arzumanyan said in an interview with Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.

"It is clear that during these thirty years, the dependence on the Russian side has reached huge proportions not only in the military sense, but also in almost all aspects, as a result of the policy of the Armenian authorities. And if we are to get out of all this, we should do it thoughtfully, so that tomorrow a catastrophe does not start in Armenia.

The time for declarative statements is over. We have already informed Russia and all the CSTO countries that we are not satisfied with their reaction. They already know about it, so there is no point in talking about it again now. If you have made up your mind and made a decision - go ahead. And it would be right if Armenia thoughtfully participated in these events, coordinated its steps with the West and informed the society that they too have made their choice.

I am still not sure that the Armenian authorities will not change their position tomorrow. They went to Brussels, Granada, signed some documents, but then they came and told the public that they were not changing any vector of foreign policy. But I see that the vector is changing, so I would like the Armenian authorities to pursue a clearer policy in domestic politics," Arzumanyan emphasized.
