Russia, Iran poised to sign strategic treaty at BRICS summit
A comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran may be signed at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan this October, or at a separate meeting if necessary.
Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali told Russian media that the final draft of the treaty is complete and preparations for its signing are underway, Caliber.Az reports.
Jalali noted that discussions have been held with Russian officials about the treaty, and while the BRICS summit is a significant event with many global leaders attending, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the signing could also be postponed to a later date. This would occur at a separate meeting in either Tehran or Moscow.
The ambassador highlighted that the treaty's development process has been finalized, and the document is currently undergoing final state procedures in preparation for signing.
