Cairo, Batumi forge direct air links as new route launches this summer
A direct air link between Cairo and Batumi will be launched this summer, marking the first-ever non-stop service between the Egyptian capital and the Black Sea city, according to Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency.
Egypt’s Air Cairo plans to operate charter flights on the Cairo–Batumi–Cairo route during the 2026 summer navigation season, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
Services are scheduled to begin on 30 June and run through 22 September, with one weekly flight on Tuesdays.
Officials said the route will be operated on a charter basis and represents a new seasonal connection between Egypt and Georgia’s Black Sea coast. No direct air service between Cairo and Batumi has previously been operated.
Air Cairo already runs weekly flights between Sharm el-Sheikh and Tbilisi. The addition of the Batumi route is expected to expand tourism flows and improve passenger connectivity between the two countries, according to the aviation authority.
