Century-old medical research centre in Tehran damaged by strikes Photo
Strikes have hit the century-old Pasteur Institute of Iran in the Iranian capital, causing extensive damage, the country’s Health Ministry said on April 2.
In a post on X, Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour called the attack on the “century-old pillar of global health” in Tehran a “direct assault on international health security,” Caliber.Az reports.
The aggression against Pasteur Institute of Iran—a century-old pillar of global health & member of International Pasteur Network—is a direct assault on international health security. This violates Geneva Conventions & IHL principles. We call on @WHO @ICRC & global health bodies… pic.twitter.com/80mv8qgcnq

Kermanpour urged the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other global health bodies to condemn the attack, assess the damage and support reconstruction efforts.
Images shared by the spokesman showed parts of the facility heavily damaged, with sections of the building reduced to rubble.
