Tehran reaffirms backing for “axis of resistance”

A senior Iranian cleric has reaffirmed that Tehran will continue supporting its regional allies despite the ongoing conflict, according to a report by Iran International.

Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard said that the Islamic Republic remains committed to its current strategic course, including backing what it refers to as the “axis of resistance,” a term used by Iran to describe allied groups opposing the influence of Israel and the United States in the region.

“The policy of the Islamic Republic is to continue the previous course and support resistance against enemies, and this course will only be strengthened,” he said.

Aboutorabi-Fard also stressed that Iran’s efforts to enhance its military capabilities are intended as a deterrent rather than a means of expansion. He said the objective is to prevent adversaries from launching attacks against Iran across land, sea, or air domains.
