IRGC claims downing of F-35 fighter jet over Iranian airspace PHOTO
The press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a statement claiming the destruction of a second U.S. F-35 fighter jet in the airspace over central Iran, Nour News reported.
The aircraft was reportedly shot down using a new air-defence system operated by the IRGC Aerospace Forces. According to the statement, the jet belonged to the “Lakenheath” squadron.
The statement said the fighter was completely destroyed and crashed. The IRGC emphasised that this is the second aircraft downed within the past 12 hours. Due to the extent of the destruction, there is no information about the pilot’s fate.
The statement also noted that these actions are being viewed as the first response by Iran’s armed forces to recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump.
