Humanitarian supplies destroyed in attack in Iran's Bushehr province
A warehouse storing humanitarian aid belonging to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was struck by a drone in southern Iran, according to a statement by an IFRC spokesperson reported by Reuters.
The spokesperson said the strike occurred early Friday morning, April 3, in Bushehr province and hit a facility containing containers of humanitarian supplies as well as emergency service vehicles. As a result of the attack, two containers and two buses were destroyed, along with an unspecified number of emergency vehicles. No party was identified as responsible for the strike.
The IFRC, which operates across the entire territory of Iran and employs around 100,000 staff, is currently the only humanitarian organisation with a nationwide presence in the country. Since the start of the US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, three IFRC personnel have been killed.
In a separate statement to Reuters a day earlier, the head of the organisation’s delegation in Iran warned that medical needs are increasing exponentially and that available supplies could soon be depleted.
