Russian Rostec creates miniaturized "own-stranger" system for drone identification

29 November 2023 14:45

Russian subsidiary holding Roselectronics, part of Rostec, has created a miniaturized "own-stranger" system for drone identification.

Roselectronics presented a new small-size transponder for drone identification. The product works according to the "friend-and-foe" principle and automatically marks friendly drones at an altitude of up to 5 km and a distance of up to 100 km from the radio interrogator, according to TASS.

The recognizer is characterized by low weight - no more than 150 g - and low power consumption of 100 mV. This allows the product to be integrated into a wide range of civil and special-purpose drones.

Today, drones are actively used on the battlefield, where they act as fire correctors, as well as means of surveillance and fire defeat. At the same time, the same models are often used by both sides of the conflict, which makes it difficult to visually identify them. The use of identifiers will make it possible to distinguish their own drones from enemy drones.
