Armenian ruling party anticipates Western support Ponders shift in security allegiance

03 April 2024 10:03

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's ruling party MPs are reportedly filled with high hopes ahead of a significant meeting scheduled to take place in Brussels on April 5.

Pashinyan has described the forthcoming event as "an exceptional event of cosmic significance for the salvation of Armenia and their government," according to a report by the Armenian daily Hraparak as cited by Caliber.Az.

Members of the ruling party are reportedly eagerly awaiting the outcome of this meeting, with anticipation so intense that they are said to be "holding their breath." The significance of this meeting is underscored by the potential direction Armenia might take in the aftermath.

According to Hraparak, the future course of Armenia hinges on the outcome of the meeting.

“If the West, in addition to ‘supportive’ statements, takes practical steps, allocates large sums of money to Armenia, thanks to which it will be possible to separate from the Russian economy, the Armenian authorities will not hesitate to change the vector of security from Russia to the West. We are talking about several billion dollars, not a few million," the report says.
