Six Ukrainian drones shot down over Russia's regions, Moscow claims

Six Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian regions on the night of July 26, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

Four drones were destroyed over the Rostov region, while two were shot down over the Kursk region, Caliber.Az reports citing the ministry's message on Telegram.

Meanwhile, Russia launched drone attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities in two regions overnight, causing disruptions in electricity supplies, Ukraine’s national power grid operator reported on July 25. Power has since been restored to most consumers in the northern Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions, according to Ukrenergo.

Ukraine’s air force chief announced that air defences had destroyed 20 out of 22 Russian attack drones launched overnight. Most of these drones were shot down in the Kherson, Sumy, Zhytomyr, and Chernihiv regions. The governor of Chernihiv reported damage to some infrastructure and a dormitory in the town of Nizhyn.

Since the start of the conflict, mutual attacks between Ukraine and Russia have intensified. Russia has consistently targeted Ukraine’s energy sector with missile and drone strikes, causing widespread blackouts and forcing Kyiv to import large-scale electricity from the European Union. In response, Ukraine has launched numerous drone attacks on Russian territory, escalating the ongoing conflict.

The war, which began in 2022, has led to significant destruction and disruption on both sides, with frequent exchanges of aerial and artillery attacks, impacting civilian infrastructure and lives.
