Arab foreign ministers urge immediate cessation of hostilities in Syria
The foreign ministers of eight Arab nations—Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia—have issued a call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Syria.
This statement was made at the conclusion of their meeting in Aqaba, Jordan, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
The document, published by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscores the ministers' shared position on the need for an immediate halt to all fighting in the Syrian conflict. The statement stresses the importance of maintaining Syria's state institutions in order to prevent the country from descending into further chaos.
The ministers also emphasized their collective determination to intensify efforts to combat terrorism, which they view as a significant threat to Syria’s national security, as well as to the stability of the wider region and the world at large.
