Armenia’s 80-tonne aid convoy heads to Lebanon via Türkiye PHOTO
Armenia has dispatched 80 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Lebanon via Türkiye following an agreement that allowed trucks to transit through the long-closed Margara crossing on the Armenian–Turkish border, officials said.
Four Armenian trucks carrying medical supplies, hygiene products and food items crossed the Margara checkpoint on June 12 and proceeded onwards through Turkish territory en route to Lebanon, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The arrangement was reached after discussions between the Armenian government and authorities in Türkiye, according to Armenian officials cited by local media.
The shipment includes 38 tonnes of medicines and hygiene products, alongside 42 tonnes of food supplies such as canned goods and perishable items, the report said.
Armenia’s Ministry of Health coordinated the procurement and packaging of medical aid, while the Ministry of Economy oversaw the collection of food supplies.
