Armenian propaganda strikes again Zelenskyy’s old speech twisted for new lies
Recently, several Armenian Telegram channels resurfaced a video message from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, dating back over a year. In November of the previous year, Zelenskyy, in a speech about the various international aid coming to Ukraine, took the opportunity to thank Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his timely support ahead of winter. Below is the full text of the part of Zelenskyy’s address dedicated to Azerbaijan.
"I would also like to thank Azerbaijan today. As we agreed with Mr. President Aliyev, on the eve of the winter, we have received appropriate assistance for our energy sector. We understand that this winter, the challenges may be no less than last year. We are preparing. And the support for Ukraine, our people, and our energy sector is critically important," he said.
Yes, Azerbaijan indeed provided such assistance to Ukraine. Specifically, in response to requests from the Ukrainian side, Azerbaijan sent humanitarian aid, consisting of electrical equipment, to restore stable electricity supply to areas affected by the ongoing crisis.
Under the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 17, 2023, the humanitarian shipment prepared by the Ministry of Energy included over 555,000 meters of electrical cables and wires. The aid, delivered by a convoy of 14 trucks, was sent to support efforts aimed at restoring stable power supply to the affected regions in Ukraine.
It was precisely for this assistance that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Azerbaijan in the video address over a year ago, which Armenian Telegram channels have now decided to resurface. Why did they suddenly choose to resurface this statement from the Ukrainian leader? The answer is simple: they are attempting to distort the facts. This is yet another Armenian informational provocation, claiming, "the air defence package for Ukraine — Zelenskyy thanked Azerbaijan and President Aliyev for the military and energy aid provided." Then, the provocateurs escalated further, raising the question, "What about Zakharova, Korotchenko, Markov, Shevchenko, Slutsky?" Their sudden concern for the health of these individuals, from those who openly boast about their pathological obsession with spreading lies, is rather amusing. Especially since, in their brief fake message, the Armenian media outlets managed to lie twice.
First, they presented an old video message from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as if it were something new. Second, they distorted the essence of his statement regarding Azerbaijan. It’s almost unnecessary to remind them that electrical cables and wires cannot be classified as an air defence system. Recently, Armenia seems to have entered a "season of wondrous discoveries," during which Prime Minister Pashinyan suddenly realized that the country’s main alcoholic product cannot be called cognac, as it is, in fact, just brandy.
But, as the saying goes, everything has its limits. Even in a country where the leader is accustomed to contradicting himself while staying in the saddle of his bicycle. However, it has been proven time and again that there is no bottom to the Armenian informational and propagandistic swamp. They lie as easily as they breathe, and they breathe often. The example provided above is just one of many in a long series.
