Australia set to receive M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 tanks from US
A train transporting 27 M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 tanks bound for the Australian Army was recently spotted in the US, en route to Port Hueneme.
The tanks, featuring distinctive AusCam and red kangaroo insignia, are part of Australia's procurement of 75 such tanks, along with other combat vehicles, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign sources.
The initiative, announced by Defence Minister Peter Dutton in January 2022, aims to enhance Australia's ground forces with advanced capabilities including upgraded communication systems and enhanced protection features.
Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Rick Burr emphasized the importance of these tanks for Australia's defence capabilities, highlighting their integration with joint and coalition forces.
The first batch of tanks is expected to arrive in Australia this year, with full operational readiness targeted for next year.
