Axios: Saudi, Israeli officials visited Washington to discuss US-Iran tensions
High-level representatives from Israel and Saudi Arabia met with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington this week, two U.S. officials and two other sources with knowledge told Axios.
"The Trump administration is hosting senior defense and intelligence officials from Israel and Saudi Arabia for talks on Iran this week as President Trump considers military strikes," they said.
The main topics of the discussions were possible military strikes against Iran, intelligence-sharing, and further steps in response to threats from Tehran.
On January 27–28, Israeli Military Intelligence (AMAN) Chief Shlomi Binder met with officials from the Pentagon, CIA, and White House, providing information on Iran requested by the U.S. administration.
Saudi officials, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Defense Minister, are scheduled to meet on January 29–30 with representatives from the Pentagon, State Department, and White House, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff. The Saudi side is reportedly working to facilitate diplomatic engagement and relay messages between the U.S. and Iran.
